Was Hatchet 3 (2013) terrible? (by Decker Shado)

Wiki Article

Hatchet 3 (2013) is the third film of horror of the Hatchet Series. It chronicles Victor Crowley's continuing adventures as well as his escapade across Louisiana's Honey Island Swamp. Kane Hodder stars as Victor Crowley, Brian Quinn plays Deputy Winslow and Rileah Vanderbilt is Misty.

The strengths of the film lie in the practical effects. Hatchet 3 is a horror movie that uses CG effects less than many others. Hatchet 3 has a lot of practical makeup effects and sets that result in some truly terrifying scenes in the movie.

The cast delivers a solid performance and Kane Hodder standing out as the most terrifying villain. The dialogue is hilarious and cheeky that it could be like a classic 1980s horror film. There are instances of humor in the film which add humour to bloody action.

Unfortunately, because the budget is so limited (reportedly $1 million), most locations that are featured in the movie are re-used locations from earlier films in the series. For instance the same boathouse was used twice within the movie. Many of these locations feel like they were reused from previous films from this (click now to view blogs) series. For those who have watched Hatchet or Hatchet 2, this could make the film appear familiar.

Overall, I enjoyed Hatchet 3 even though it was very similar to previous installments in the series. It also offered plenty of gory thrills and some entertaining performances by its cast members.
